Seven Botanics Nalangu Maavu
An Ancient Bathing Ritual, Thoughtfully Reimagined
Long before body washes and synthetic fragrances became part of everyday bathing, South Indian homes had a simpler way of caring for the skin.
A handful of carefully chosen botanicals.
A little water.
A paste made by hand.
And a bathing ritual rooted in tradition.
Seven Botanics Nalangu Maavu brings that tradition into the present through our own carefully prepared 13-ingredient botanical formulation.
Not a collection of powders.
A composition created with purpose.
Why We Created Nalangu Maavu
Traditional bathing was never only about cleansing.
The ingredients themselves were part of the ritual.
Pulses, roots, flowers, leaves, spices and botanicals were selected and prepared according to practices passed through generations.
Over time, many of these simple rituals became less common as modern personal-care products took their place.
We wanted to revisit one of them.
Not by simply reproducing an old recipe, but by thoughtfully creating our own interpretation of Nalangu Maavu using botanicals chosen for their individual character and their place within the complete formulation.
This is Seven Botanics Nalangu Maavu.
A traditional idea, thoughtfully brought back.
Thirteen Botanicals. One Thoughtful Composition.
Our Nalangu Maavu brings together thirteen carefully selected botanicals.
Each ingredient has its own history.
Together, they create the character of the formulation.
Known as Pachai Payiru, green gram has long been associated with traditional Indian bathing practices.
Its fine botanical character makes it a natural part of a traditional cleansing ritual.
Kadalai Paruppu brings another familiar pulse into the formulation, continuing the tradition of using simple, plant-based ingredients in personal care.
Ulunthu has been part of traditional South Indian food and household practices for generations.
Its inclusion adds another layer to our botanical composition.
Mysore Payiru contributes to the pulse-based foundation of the formulation, reflecting the simplicity of traditional bathing preparations.
Poolan Kilangu is a traditional botanical valued for its place in natural personal-care practices.
Kasthuri Manjal brings the distinctive character of traditional turmeric-based beauty rituals into the formulation.
Korai Kilangu is a traditional root with a long history of use in Indian practices.
Vettiver brings its naturally distinctive earthy aroma and traditional botanical character to the blend.
Aavaram Poo is a familiar botanical in traditional South Indian practices and adds a floral element to our composition.
Rose brings softness, fragrance and the timeless character of floral beauty rituals.
A flower deeply familiar in Indian gardens and traditional beauty practices, hibiscus adds another botanical layer to the formulation.
Carefully incorporated for its citrus character, orange peel brings freshness to the botanical blend.
Badam completes the formulation with the richness of a botanical ingredient long associated with traditional beauty care.
Why Thirteen?
Thirteen was not chosen simply to make a longer ingredient list.
We believe a formulation should be defined by why each ingredient is there, not by how many ingredients can be printed on a label.
Each botanical in Nalangu Maavu was selected to contribute its own character to the whole.
- The pulses.
- The roots.
- The flowers.
- The aromatic botanicals.
- The fruit peel.
- The almond.
Different ingredients. One composition.
That is the Seven Botanics approach.

The preparation itself is part of the experience.
A little powder.
A little water.
A few moments of care.
What It Feels Like
Nalangu Maavu is designed around a simple bathing experience:
Clean. Fresh. Naturally refreshed.
The powder becomes a soft botanical paste when mixed with water, allowing you to return to a bathing ritual that feels considerably simpler than a shelf full of products.
For Everyday Bathing
Seven Botanics Nalangu Maavu is created for both men and women who appreciate traditional botanical care and simple personal-care rituals.
It can become part of your everyday bathing routine — or simply a way to occasionally step away from modern complexity and return to something familiar.
More Than A Powder
It would be easy to call Nalangu Maavu a traditional bath powder.
But that would only describe what it is.
Not why we made it.
For us, Nalangu Maavu represents something larger:
The belief that traditional products deserve the same thoughtfulness we expect from modern products.
We don't need to abandon tradition to move forward.
Sometimes, we simply need to look back — and understand what was already there.
From Nalangu Maavu To Nalangu Maavu Soap
The same botanical thinking extends into our Seven Botanics Nalangu Maavu Soap.
The powder is the original expression of the concept.
The soap is another way of bringing that botanical idea into a modern bathing routine.
